Ten whole seconds is a long time to stare at a garden gnome. The fact it looked that real from across the street is kind of creepy. You must have been fully convinced it was a person. I would have been so embarrassed walking away from that. Some of those decorations are getting way too good.

Once I mistook a lawn flamingo for a neighbor bending over. Now I just squint a little before I commit to a full stare, saves the awkwardness. It's all about checking for tiny movements or weirdly perfect posture.
