Waited 45 minutes for a bus that never showed, then saw it pass on the other side of the street

I stood at the stop downtown for almost an hour checking the app every few minutes, only to look up and watch my bus zoom past going the opposite direction on a different route. Has anyone else had a bus just disappear from the schedule like that?

My friend Sarah waited 35 minutes at a stop on 42nd Street and watched three buses go by on the other side. When she called the transit line, they told her that bus was "reassigned to a different route" without any warning. She ended up walking 12 blocks to catch a different line. The app still showed the original bus coming for another 10 minutes after it was already gone.

Did the transit line give her any sort of compensation or a voucher for the app being wrong? That walking 12 blocks after already waiting 35 minutes is brutal lol.
