Accidentally used my boss's coffee mug as a plant pot for 3 days

So last Monday I finally decided to repot my sad little succulent that's been dying on my desk. Grabbed a random ceramic mug from the break room sink, filled it with dirt, and plopped the plant in. Didn't realize until Thursday that the mug had "World's Best Manager" printed on the bottom. My boss walked by, saw it, and just stared at me for like 10 seconds without saying anything. I had to explain everything while holding a trowel covered in soil. He laughed but now I think I'm on some kind of office watchlist. Anyone else ever accidentally steal something at work and feel super awkward about it?

Here's an angle nobody's mentioned: your succulent might actually do better in that mug than a regular pot if you drilled a hole in the bottom. Ceramic holds moisture longer than terracotta, so if you keep that plant alive, your boss might eventually see it as a quirky desk decoration instead of a weird theft situation. Just don't water it too much or you'll end up with root rot and have to explain another dead plant on top of the whole mug thing.

Ha fr though that 10 second stare is brutal. Like you're standing there doing the math on how fast you can disappear into a supply closet. But honestly the succulent idea is lowkey smart. If you drill a tiny hole in the bottom of that mug and use some pebbles for drainage, you're basically giving that plant a custom ceramic pot. Plus if it thrives your boss might just write it off as you being a "creative desk decorator" instead of a mug thief. Just don't overwater it or you'll have a dead plant AND a stolen mug on your conscience. That's a whole other level of awkward.
