Can we settle this: is it better to vent first or get cheered up first when your day falls apart?
Last Thursday I got stuck in traffic for 90 minutes on I-5 near Portland, then came home to find my dog had chewed up my only pair of work shoes. I texted my buddy and he immediately sent me a meme, but honestly what I wanted was just to complain for 10 minutes without anyone trying to fix it. My sister says you should always accept the joke right away because sitting in the bad feeling makes it last longer. So what works for you, do you want the laugh first or do you need to dump the whole story before anyone makes you smile?
