Cold showers were a scam for me, but ice baths are a different story?
I spent 3 months doing freezing morning showers cause everyone swore by them. Honestly felt no different, just wet and grumpy before coffee. Then my buddy dragged me to a 45 degree plunge at a gym near Portland and weirdly enough, my mood held for hours after. Is the real benefit the full immersion or the social pressure of paying for it? Anyone else flip their opinion on a wellness trend after giving it a second shot?

Man the difference between a cold shower and actually sitting in that water is like comparing a drizzle to getting hit with a fire hose. Yeah the social pressure thing is real too, once you drop $20 on a plunge you're not gonna wimp out after 10 seconds like you would in your own bathroom. Plus when you're fully submerged you kinda have to just breathe through it, a shower lets you cheat by stepping out of the stream whenever you feel like it. Funny how paying for torture makes it work better, guess my brain just needed the accountability.

Pay up or give up, right? @james_campbell12 basically nailed it, my cheap self would've hopped out of that tub in 5 seconds flat if I hadn't already handed over my card.
