Had a run-in with a rogue cabinet door hinge yesterday

I was swapping out an old hinge on a bathroom cabinet around 3 PM. The screw stripped halfway in, and I spent 45 minutes trying to get it out with every trick I knew. Finally just drilled it out and used a wall anchor instead. Has anyone else had cheap screws ruin a simple fix?

Ugh, that stripped screw struggle is the absolute worst, right? Solidarity on that 45 minute battle.

Heard a tip the other day about using a rubber band between the screwdriver and the screw to get extra grip. Tried it on a stripped screw in a door hinge last week and it actually worked better than I expected. Still took some patience but way less than 45 minutes. Might save you some time next time you run into one of those!
