Overheard a cashier at the grocery store say something that stuck with me

There was a lady ahead of me in line yesterday who dropped a jar of pickles and it shattered everywhere. The cashier just sighed and said 'Well, that's my cue to take a break in 10 minutes.' Then she turned to me and goes 'You know, bad days are just good days with bad lighting.' Made me think about how I let small stuff ruin my whole afternoon. How do you all shake off those little moments that feel bigger than they are?

Three years of retail taught me that "bad days are just good days with bad lighting" is basically a fancy way to say "bottle it up and smile." I found that small stuff hits harder when I'm already tired or hungry, not because I'm bad at handling it. Sometimes you just need to admit the day actually sucks (pickles on the floor prove that) and then move on, instead of trying to dress it up like a greeting card.

You ever have one of those days where even the air feels like it's against you, @oscarc53? I swear, last week I dropped a five-gallon bucket of roofing nails off a ladder and they scattered everywhere like some kind of weird metallic confetti. Paused for a sec, looked at the mess, and just said out loud, "Yep, this is happening." No fancy lighting trick was gonna fix that. Sometimes you just gotta let yourself be mad for a minute before you grab the magnet. I totally get that small stuff hits different when you're running on empty.
