Serious question, is it better to tell my boss I'm having a rough day or just push through? Chose to push through and it went bad
Last Tuesday I was running on 3 hours of sleep and just felt off. My boss asked if I was good and I said yeah, then tried to push through a full shift. I messed up a simple order and cost us like $80 in wasted food. My co-worker pulled me aside and said I should have just said I was having a bad day. So now I'm wondering, do you guys tell your boss when you're struggling or do you fake it? I picked wrong and I'm paying for it.
Why do we all do this thing where we hide stuff from the exact people who could actually help us? It's not just work either. People do it at the doctor, at school, even with their own families. We act like admitting we're struggling is some kind of failure when really it just makes everything worse for everyone. Your co-worker was right, but it's hard to know that in the moment when you're tired and your brain is fried.
