Showerthought: my old boss Dave said to always buy the cheapest version first, and now I have 3 useless blenders
My old boss Dave told me back in 2021 that I should always buy the cheapest version of anything first, because you don't know if you'll actually use it. I took that advice for a year and now I have a blender that smokes if I put ice in it, a drill that died halfway through one shelf, and a $22 air fryer that only cooks the top half of anything. My wife finally snapped last month when the cheap vacuum broke for the third time and said to just get a decent one. I dropped $140 on a refurbished one and it has been running fine for 6 weeks now. Dave was right about some stuff like tools you'll barely touch, but he was dead wrong about things you use every single day. Turns out the real rule is buy cheap for one-off jobs and buy good for stuff you pick up daily. So did Dave's advice burn anyone else, or did it actually help you out?
