Spent $60 on a heated cat bed that my cat completely ignored
I caved and bought this plush heated bed from PetSmart after my cat spent all week shivering on the cold floor. She's 12 years old and I felt bad watching her curl up near the vent. It's got this self-warming layer and a little cave shape she usually loves. But nope, she took one sniff and now sleeps on the cardboard box I was gonna recycle. I even tried putting her favorite blanket inside it, nothing. So there's $60 down the drain and she's happier with trash. Has anyone else's pet totally rejected something you thought they'd love?

12 year old cats get set in their ways, maybe she just wanted warm cardboard.

Ha, well there's a plot twist nobody saw coming. @keith_rivera19 might be onto something but I bet it's also about the texture. Those plush beds have a certain feel that older cats with arthritis or sensitive paws sometimes hate. She might associate that softness with something stressful like a vet visit or a loud noise that happened near the bed. Also consider the spot you put it in. If it's near a vent or a drafty window, the cardboard box might be in a quieter warmer corner she already claimed. Your mileage may vary but sometimes cats pick their spots based on what they can see out the window or what feels safe from other pets.
