Thought journaling was woo-woo nonsense until my therapist made me try it
I always figured writing down feelings was for people who needed to feel special. But after three panic attacks in two weeks my therapist in Cleveland pushed me to try it for 10 minutes a day. Six weeks in I noticed I was sleeping better and snapping at my kids way less. The part that got me was seeing the same worries pop up over and over until they lost their power. Anybody else have a habit they swore would never work on them?

Journaling hit me the same way. I tried it after a buddy swore by it and I figured it was all hype. But damn if it didn't actually help quiet my brain down before bed.

Elliot Johnson, did you also start with a fancy leather notebook and then switch to a napkin like the rest of us?

Funny you say that, I read something a while back about how writing stuff down actually helps your brain stop chewing on thoughts. Something to do with getting it out of your head and onto paper so it can rest. Makes sense why it works before bed.
