Had to pick between stand mixer and hand mixer for my small apartment kitchen

I moved into a tiny apartment last month and had to decide between my big KitchenAid stand mixer or my little hand mixer. The stand mixer takes up so much counter space but I love making bread dough in it. Ended up going with the hand mixer because I just couldn't spare the room. First batch of chocolate chip cookies came out decent but creaming butter was way harder. My arms were sore after ten minutes and the batter still had lumps. Tried whipping cream for a cake yesterday and it took forever plus some splattered on my wall. Is there a middle ground I'm missing here? Something that doesn't take up half my kitchen but works better than a basic hand mixer?

Immersion blender with the whisk attachment is a solid middle ground, I have one and it handles most stuff without leaving my arm sore. Maybe it's just me but it feels like every tool in a small space has some trade off, you just pick which inconvenience you can live with.

Got a cheap immersion blender with a whisk attachment and it's been a lifesaver. Handles doughs and cream way better than my old hand mixer without taking up much space.
