My sourdough starter straight up died in the Phoenix heat last July.

I left it in my car for 45 minutes after a grocery run (a huge mistake, I know) and came back to a jar of grey, boozy-smelling soup. I had to beg a pinch of starter from a baker in Tempe and basically start over from scratch. Has anyone else had a starter completely nuked by heat?

Just left it in the car for 45 minutes? That's all it took? Man, Phoenix heat is a different kind of beast. I figured you'd need a whole afternoon for that kind of damage.

Mine turned into a science experiment after a power outage killed the AC.
