Watching my starter double in 4 hours after 3 flat weeks
I kept my sourdough starter on the same kitchen counter for 3 weeks and it barely moved, then I shifted it next to the water heater in my basement and it doubled in 4 hours. Turns out my kitchen sits around 64 degrees at night and that was just too cold for the little guy. Has anyone else had a big jump just from moving their starter to a warmer spot?
Three weeks of nothing and then it doubles in four hours just from moving it? That's insane. I had mine in a drafty spot for two weeks and it barely bubbled, but I never thought about the water heater trick. 64 degrees is basically a fridge for those things, no wonder it was dead. I'm gonna check the temp in my utility room tomorrow, thanks for the heads up.
