A fellow competitor at the Kansas City Royal told me my brisket bark was too salty, so I cut my rub salt by a third and the flavor is way more balanced now.
Has anyone else had a judge or fellow cook give you a piece of advice that really improved your process?

Cutting your rub salt by a third just because one person said it was too salty is wild. I'd get a few more opinions before making a change that big.

Man, emery199 is totally right about getting more opinions... that's a huge change to make based on one person. I've been there before, tweaking a recipe after one comment and then everyone else asks what happened. It's a tough spot to be in for sure. You gotta figure out if that one person just has a different taste or if it's a real issue.

Yeah but emery199, is cutting salt by a third really that wild? Might just be one picky eater.
