Read a forum post about soaking wood chips that changed my whole approach

Some guy said he soaks his apple wood chips in apple juice for 12 hours before smoking. Tried it on my last pork butt and the flavor was way better than just dry chips. Anyone else do something weird with their wood prep?

Soaking wood in anything just makes it steam instead of smoke. You're basically steaming your meat, not smoking it.
