Spent $400 on a pellet grill, my stick burner still wins every time
I bought a Traeger knockoff last spring thinking convenience beat flavor, but after 6 months of bland brisket and a broken auger, I hauled it to the shed. Anyone else dump serious cash on a pellet setup and go back to tending wood at 5am?

Pellet grill" and "bland brisket" in the same sentence should be a crime. I spent $350 on one of those fancy mailbox smokers thinking I was being SMART, and my first pork butt tasted like a vacuum cleaner left in a garage for a decade. The auger jammed on the third cook, and I had to take the whole thing apart with a butter knife while my real brisket sat wrapped in a cooler getting soft. Now that thing holds plant pots in the corner of my yard, which is honestly the most useful job it's EVER done. Wood fire is like a language, man. You gotta learn to speak the smoke, not push a button and let a computer lie to you.
