Why does nobody warn you about cheap pellet smoker augers

I grabbed a bargain pellet grill for $250 back in March down in Tulsa, and three weekends ago the auger jammed halfway through a pork shoulder cook, killing the whole smoke. What I lost was about 40 bucks of pellets and a 9 hour day with friends waiting on dinner that never came. Anyone else had this happen with budget units and switched to a name brand auger kit instead of trashing the whole thing?
