Why does nobody warn you about cheap pellet smoker augers
I grabbed a bargain pellet grill for $250 back in March down in Tulsa, and three weekends ago the auger jammed halfway through a pork shoulder cook, killing the whole smoke. What I lost was about 40 bucks of pellets and a 9 hour day with friends waiting on dinner that never came. Anyone else had this happen with budget units and switched to a name brand auger kit instead of trashing the whole thing?

Did you check if the auger was just binding on wet pellets or sawdust before you blame the whole unit? I read on a smoking forum that budget grills often ship with weak motors that stall on longer cooks, and a lot of guys just swap in a better auger motor instead of the whole kit. For 250 bucks you kinda get what you pay for, but fixing the motor is way cheaper than a new grill.
