Can we talk about the time I tried to replace a single sprinkler head?
What should have been a 20 minute job turned into a 3 hour ordeal because the old fitting was completely seized and I had to cut the pipe, which then meant a trip to the hardware store for a new section and coupler. I spent most of that time just trying to avoid having to dig up a bigger section of the line in my backyard. Has anyone else had a simple repair blow up into a half-day project because of one stubborn part?

Three hours is nothing. Wait until a simple brake job turns into replacing every line on a rusted-out frame. That's a real project. Sprinklers are basically adult Legos. A seized fitting is just part of the deal, not some huge ordeal. You got it done without having to call a pro, so it's a win. Calling it a blown-up project seems like a stretch.

Totally agree, a little rust never hurt anyone! Just keep a can of penetrating oil handy for next time, makes those stuck fittings way easier.

Exactly, a seized sprinkler fitting is just Tuesday. Had one last month where the whole manifold was basically one solid piece of rust. Took a torch, a ton of PB Blaster, and a whole new vocabulary to get it apart. Still beats paying someone.
