I stopped following the timer on my cleaning route and got home an hour earlier
For two years I cleaned houses on a schedule I built around what the first company I worked for taught me. They swore by a strict minute-by-minute breakdown: 20 for bathrooms, 15 for kitchens, that kind of thing. It drove me nuts because every house is different, but I followed it anyway, thinking there had to be a system. Then last spring I took over a regular client in Arlington whose place was honestly a disaster. Instead of forcing the timer, I started with the biggest mess first, the kitchen, and worked outward based on what I saw, not what a chart said. I finished that house 35 minutes faster than my old routine ever allowed, and the client actually complimented the details I normally rushed. Now I only use timers as a loose check, not a rule. Has anyone else ditched a so-called standard process and seen better results after making that switch?
