Just threw $60 down the drain on a meal prep delivery service that sent me rotten chicken twice in one week

I signed up for that FreshlyFit plan thinking it'd save me time but after opening the second box of slimy chicken breasts I canceled and now I'm stuck with a subscription I can't fully refund, has anyone else had better luck with a local grocery delivery instead?

You paid extra for the privilege of playing chicken roulette with your dinner. Those meal prep companies are basically just testing how much food poisoning you're willing to tolerate before you give up. Local grocery delivery has been fine for me, but you still have to sniff test everything yourself. The real lesson here is that any service claiming to save you time probably means they save time on quality control instead. At least with grocery delivery you can pick your own slimy chicken and know exactly who to blame.

Wait, is everyone really getting slimy chicken from meal prep services? I've used three different ones over the years and the chicken was always fine, but I think people forget those bags have a use-by date for a reason. You're supposed to cook it within a day or two of getting it, not let it sit in the fridge for a week then blame the company. The real issue is probably people treating them like a pantry instead of fresh food. I mean yeah, grocery delivery lets you pick your own stuff, but you can also just order meal kits and cook them day-of and it works fine. Just my two cents from someone who hasn't gotten sick yet.

Oh I read somewhere that a lot of it comes down to temperature during shipping, honestly.
