My garbage disposal gave up mid-dinner party last Saturday
I was hosting 6 people for enchiladas when the disposal started making this HORRIBLE grinding noise and then just stopped. Turns out a fork had fallen in there and snapped the flywheel clean off. I had to fish out the broken pieces with pliers while everyone pretended not to watch. Has anyone else had a kitchen appliance die at the WORST possible moment?

@joelt70 I read somewhere those rubber guards don't stop small stuff like forks, just keeps your fingers out.

Oh man, that's rough. Nothing says "classy dinner party" like elbow deep in a sink full of enchilada sludge with pliers. Looks like your guests got a live performance of "Chef vs. the Silverware" instead of dessert.
