My neighbor's tomato plants made me rethink everything about my garden soil
I spent three years dumping store-bought fertilizer on my raised beds and got okay results. Last spring I went over to help my neighbor Susan haul mulch and noticed her tomatoes were huge. She told me she just mixes her own compost with coffee grounds from the local shop. So I tried it with just one row of peppers this year and they grew twice as big as the others. Has anyone else had better luck with homemade soil stuff over the bagged kind?

Switched to homemade compost last year and my peppers exploded. Coffee grounds are legit.

Nah, I gotta disagree. Coffee grounds made my soil too acidic last season, stunted everything. My peppers did way better with straight up manure and leaf compost.

Got coffee grounds in my mix this year after being skeptical for a long time. But seeing how your peppers took off makes me think I was too quick to judge. I'll definitely give it a proper try next season.
