The way I used to pack for lunch vs now is night and day

I was scrolling old photos and saw a pic of my lunch from 2015 - a sad gas station sandwich and a warm soda, because I never planned ahead. Now I meal prep on Sundays and it saves me like $40 a week easy, but man I miss not thinking about it at all. Has anyone else realized how much time/effort goes into just feeding yourself decently?

Oh man, I totally get that. I started doing something that changed the game for me - I prep ingredients instead of full meals. Like, I'll chop all my veggies and cook some chicken on Sunday, but I don't actually make the meals until the night before. It cuts my Sunday time in half and I still save money because I'm not buying takeout. Have you tried a simple system like that or are you stuck in the full meal prep mode?

Ingredient prepping is the secret, I do the same thing and it saves my sanity every week.

...oh man, that 2015 lunch sounds way too familiar. I used to grab those sad little snack packs and a bottle of iced tea that was always room temperature by the time I got to eat it because I'd shove everything in my work bag and forget. Now I'm that person with a neatly packed bento box full of leftovers and cut veggies and it's great for my wallet but I swear I spend half my Sunday afternoon just washing containers and chopping stuff. Like, I didn't realize how much mental energy was going into just figuring out what to eat every single day until I started planning it all out...
