Update: My spreadsheet formula added 4 hours to my Saturday and I caught it at 11pm
So every Saturday morning I run this little budget spreadsheet for our kitchen fund, and two Saturdays ago I finally noticed the totals kept creeping up by like $12 each week for no reason. Turns out I had dragged a formula one cell too far and it was silently adding the same grocery run from back in March into every new row, which I only found at 11pm while half asleep. Does anyone else here have a boring chore that quietly eats hours because of one dumb mistake you didn't catch for weeks?
Did you ever figure out how many weeks it had been doing that before you caught it? I had almost the same thing happen with my car log book, where I track oil changes and tire stuff in a spreadsheet on my laptop. I dragged a row down one too far and it kept copying an old $68 service into every new month. Took me almost two months to notice because the numbers still looked normal, just slowly bigger. I sat there at my kitchen table for like an hour fixing it and double checking every other row after that. Now I check my formulas first thing before I even type in new numbers, which is honestly kind of sad but it saves me the headache.
