A guy at the gas station in Reno convinced me to try ranch on a hot dog

I was filling up at this Shell station off I-80 around 11 PM last Tuesday, grabbing a hot dog from the roller grill because that's what you do when you're driving through Nevada and your stomach hates you. This older dude in a trucker hat comes out of the restroom, sees me with my plain dog, and just goes 'you're doing that wrong, man.' He walks me to the little condiment station and hands me a packet of ranch. Not even a brand I recognized, just some generic white packet. I figured why not, I've eaten weird stuff before. I squirted it all over that sad little hot dog and took a bite. Look, I know ranch on pizza gets people fired up, and I've seen people put ranch on fries, that's normal. But on a hot dog? It cuts the salt weirdly well, makes it creamier, and that garlicky tang kind of wakes up the whole thing. He just nodded and said 'told you' and walked off. I've been doing it at home ever since, but only with cheap dogs, not the fancy ones. The fancier sausages don't need it. My buddy thinks I'm insane, but he also puts ketchup on tacos, so he can't talk. Has anyone else actually tried this or is it just me and that random trucker?

Tbh I used to think ranch on hot dogs was a crime against humanity, but now I get it, cheap dogs need that creamy kick. That trucker was onto something real.
