I spent 6 hours hunting a stink bomb in my fridge, it was the ketchup packets

So last Tuesday I made a weird combo of cottage cheese and hot sauce, left the bowl out, and when I came back the whole kitchen smelled like a skunk had a party. I blamed the cheese, the sauce, even my roommate's socks for a full 4 hours. Then I finally checked the fridge door and found an old ketchup packet leaking all over the shelf. That mix of tomato and vinegar literally smelled like rotten feet on hot asphalt. Took me 6 hours to solve a problem that was sitting right in front of my face. Anyone else ever blame their weird food experiment when the real culprit was something boring like old condiments?

Blame the cheap hot sauce first too. Then found a mystery mayo packet behind the pickles that was three months old. Those little single serve things are always the traitors. Now I sniff every packet before I toss it in the drawer. Once you find one leak, you start checking everything.
