Warning: stop judging pickle juice by the first sip, it needs like 3 minutes
My grandma in Tulsa used to drop a splash of dill pickle juice into her Dr Pepper back in the 90s, and everyone at the table thought she lost it. I tried it in 2015 at a county fair near Waco and hated it right away, so I dumped half the cup. About 4 years later a buddy at a cookout handed me a cup and said just wait 3 minutes before you decide. He was right, the salt and the sweet actually settle together once the fizz calms down, and now I make them at home on hot days. The trick is about 1 tablespoon of juice per 12 ounces, more than that and it just tastes like salad. Tried it with bread and butter pickle juice last month and that one was way too sweet, so stick with dill. Anyone got a juice to soda ratio that works better than mine?
