A homeowner in Portland pointed out my ladder setup was too close to their siding

They said they saw a small scratch last time and asked if I could move it out a bit. I started using those foam ladder mitts on every job now, and I keep the feet at least six inches from the wall. Has anyone found a better way to protect siding on old houses with uneven ground?

Oh man, I feel that... had the same thing happen on a job last year. Those foam mitts are a lifesaver, but on really uneven ground I started using a stack of those rubber leveling blocks under the feet. Lets you keep the ladder stable and still get that space from the siding. It’s a bit more setup time but saves a ton of worry.

Honestly, that sounds a bit over the top to me, grantp28.

Have you tried those rubber leveling blocks like grantp28 mentioned?
