I was stuck for an hour until another sweep at the job site handed me his inspection mirror, and seeing the exact rusted hinge let me fix it in five minutes, so what's your go-to tool for weird damper problems?

A bent coat hanger, @ward.jamie, is a solid backup but it can scratch things up.

My go-to is a bent coat hanger, but maybe that's why my jobs take so long.

Man, that reminds me of the time I found a whole bird's nest blocking a flue with a cheap borescope.
