Appreciation post: My grandpa's steel chimney rods from the 70s
I was cleaning out my garage and found his full set of rods. They are heavy and simple, but I still use them for tough jobs. What old tools do you keep around even with all the new stuff?

My friend got a huge pipe wrench from his grandfather that must weigh twenty pounds. He keeps it in his truck for emergencies, saying it never fails to loosen a stuck fitting. Last month he used it to fix a neighbor's sprinkler while his new tools stayed in the garage. That wrench is ugly and older than he is, but he swears it has character. Sometimes the old stuff just works without any fuss.

No way that wrench weighs twenty pounds and still gets used! @rodriguez.felix, your friend must have arms of steel to swing that thing around. Old tools like that were built to last, unlike my new drill that died after six months. My dad's hammer from the 80s still drives nails straight when my fancy one just bounces off. It's crazy how something so heavy and simple outlives all the gadgets. Those chimney rods probably feel the same, solid and trustworthy.
