Been seeing more creosote buildup from pellet stoves lately
Visited a job over in Frederick last week. Owner had a pellet stove running for 2 years without a sweep. Creosote was caked on thick, almost like tar. Anyone else noticing pellet stoves need more frequent cleaning than people think?

The moisture content in the pellets themselves varies way more than people realize from batch to batch, and that alone can make or break how fast creosote builds up. In my experience, a dry storage space for the bags makes a bigger difference than most folks give it credit for.

Yeah it's wild how many folks treat pellet stoves like they're low maintenance. Kinda feels like every new convenience we get just hides a bigger mess to deal with later.

Honestly I used to think pellet stoves were pretty set it and forget it too. But after reading stuff like this and watching a neighbor deal with a buildup issue, yeah, I totally get why people say they're not as low maintenance as they seem.
