Broke a rod on a 40ft run in Burlington last week and had to finish the job with a hand brush
I was 30 feet up on a two flue brick stack in Burlington on a Tuesday when my 3/4 inch rods started binding in the offset and one snapped right at the button. I climbed down, grabbed my old poly hand brush, and did the rest the slow way, which took about an extra 90 minutes and left my shoulder wrecked. Does anyone here still run poly rods on old tight offsets, or is it time to switch to the stiffer fiberglass kit for those?
Man, fiberglass rods are the whole reason you snapped a rod in the first place, those stiff bastards don't give at all when they hit a tight offset. Poly has that flex so it bends around the corner instead of fighting it, you just gotta slow your feed way down and let the brush do the work instead of forcing it. Switching to a stiffer kit is just gonna cost you more money and more snapped rods on those old brick stacks.
