Can we talk about how many chimney fires happen each year?
I was reading a report from the National Fire Protection Association last night. It said there are over 25,000 chimney fires in the US every single year. That number really got me thinking. I guess I knew it was a risk, but seeing it written down like that makes it feel so much more real. It really shows how important our job is for keeping people safe. What's the best way you explain this risk to customers who might think a sweep is just a cleaning?

My neighbor down the street had a fire last winter. It started in the chimney and spread into the attic before the trucks even got there. The whole upstairs was ruined. They lost everything in those rooms. It was just a regular Tuesday night, and they were watching TV. Makes you realize it can happen to anyone, anytime.

Did you see that article about the hidden creosote buildup? I tell people it's like a grease fire waiting to happen in their walls. That usually gets the point across.
