Can we talk about how many folks skip the cleanout tee on new installs
I was out on a job last Tuesday up in Salem and the homeowner showed me their brand new fireplace insert. The crew that put it in left no cleanout tee at the bottom of the flue liner. Now every sweep who comes after is going to have a miserable time trying to brush that out. Why do installers keep skipping this step when it saves so much headache down the road. Has anyone else run into this on new builds?

Same thing happens with dryer vents around here. People skip the cleanout port and then wonder why it takes forever to dry clothes. It's like nobody thinks about maintenance when they're rushing through a new install.

Depends on the setup honestly. A cleanout tee is just another spot for creosote buildup and potential leaks if they don't seal it right.

And @kim.zara I get what you're saying about potential leaks, but that's like saying you shouldn't put a drain in your sink because it might clog. Same lazy thinking that made people stop putting access panels behind bathtubs, we're just building in future headaches everywhere.
