Just noticed how many new sweeps are skipping the drop cloth step
Last month I was on a job in Portland and the homeowner sent me a photo of their carpet the next day. Had black soot tracked all through the living room. Turns out the guy who did the work before me was a younger fella who didn't bother laying down tarps because he was in a hurry. I've seen this three times now since January. Anyone else finding this is becoming a regular issue with the newer folks coming into the trade?

Get yourself some of the cheap blue tarps from Harbor Freight and keep a few in your truck at all times. It takes two extra minutes but saves you from having to go back to a job site to fix someone else's mistake.

Aw man, that really sucks. Ngl, it's frustrating seeing corners get cut like that, especially when you're the one who has to deal with the mess left behind.

Aw man, tell me about it. My buddy Mike had something similar happen at his old job. They told him to skip the final testing step on a batch of parts just to save a day, and three months later they had to recall half the shipment. He was the one stuck dealing with all the angry calls and redoing the paperwork.
