My six-year-old nephew asked me if Santa ever gets stuck in the chimneys I clean.

I was explaining my job at a family thing in Omaha, and he got real serious, looked me dead in the eye, and said, 'You gotta make sure the big man has a clear path, it's your most important job,' and honestly, I've felt a weird new sense of duty ever since.

My little cousin in Lincoln asked me something similar last year. That kind of straight-faced kid logic really sticks with you. It’s funny how they can make you see your own work in a whole new light.

Straight-faced kid logic is a killer. My nephew once asked why I bother cleaning baseboards when people just walk on the floors. Took me a minute to realize he had a point about my whole life.

My buddy's kid asked him why he puts on a tie to go talk to people if the tie doesn't do any of the talking. He said it messed him up for a week, like what are we even doing half the time.
