Rant: the old terra cotta flue on Oak Street cracked on me and I ate the cost
I was up on a two story place on Oak Street last Tuesday, running my standard 8 inch poly brush down a flue I had already swept back in 2022, and I heard a pop about halfway down. Pulled the brush back up and a chunk of terra cotta the size of my palm came with it. Homeowner was standing right at the base watching, so I had to tell her straight that her liner was done and my brush did not do that, the clay was already shot. I gave her $150 off the relining quote to keep the job and she still hasn't called me back. Any of you carry a camera down first on old clay jobs, or do you just eat it when this happens?
