Update: That 'universal' damper clamp from the trade show in St. Louis cost me a whole morning
Bought one of those fancy quick-fit clamps a few years back, said it would work on any oval damper. Tried it on a 10x14 in an old house in Cincinnati and it just would not seal right, kept slipping. Wasted about three hours of my time and had to go back to my old bolts and plate. Anyone else have a go-to brand for odd-sized dampers that actually holds?

Sometimes new tools just need a learning curve to work right.

What brand was that universal clamp you had trouble with? I've seen a few of those fail on older, out of round dampers, so it might be a known issue.
