Finally switched from a string trimmer to a battery powered one for my jobs in Phoenix

I was using that old gas powered Echo for years on landscaping jobs around here, but it kept flooding in the heat. Picked up a DeWalt 60V model last week and it actually cuts cleaner near the base of walls without throwing rocks everywhere. Only took 3 days to realize I should've made the swap sooner. Anybody else made a similar switch and found it worth the cost?

Man, is it really that serious? I mean sure a string trimmer is just a string trimmer. If it works it works right? I've run gas trimmers in all kinds of weather and never once thought about switching because of a little flooding. But I guess if you're doing it every day in Phoenix heat maybe it matters. Just seems like a lot of money for a minor annoyance.

Wait, is this really even an issue for most people though? I mean I've been using the same gas trimmer for like five years and I can count on one hand the times it's given me trouble in the rain or humidity. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people overthink this stuff. If you're not running a commercial landscaping crew where every minute counts, why drop big money on something that's basically solving a problem you don't really have? And even then, most gas trimmers work fine if you take two seconds to clear the air filter or whatever. Idk, seems like a solution looking for a problem.
