Had a talk with a framer from the 80s about how we use lasers now

He said he leveled everything with a 4ft level and a string line, and watching him check my laser setup against his old method made me realize I lean on the tool more than my own eyes, has anyone else had an older guy make you question your own skills?

Did the old guy show you how much faster it was for him to just look at a bubble and know it's right? Makes me wonder if we've traded speed for confidence in our own eyes.

The "trust your eyes" thing is like everywhere now, even at the grocery store where people just grab produce without actually checking the ripeness cause they trust the sticker. We traded the skill of knowing for the convenience of being told.

Nah, I actually think it's smarter to trust the system over my own guessing game lol.
