The cheap laser level I mocked ended up saving a 14 hour day

I always thought those little green laser levels were gimmicks for weekend warriors. Last month on a kitchen tile job in Austin, my old string line kept sagging and I was rechecking everything twice. My helper pulled out his $40 laser level and we had the whole layout snapped in under an hour. I ate my words and ordered one the next day. Anyone else had a budget tool surprise them like that?

String lines suck honestly. The $40 green ones are fine for tile because tile guys mostly need a straight line on a wall or floor, not survey grade accuracy. Mine has a pulse mode for a receiver but I have never once used it. The real win is you can work alone instead of having a guy hold a chalk line. Six months in and mine is still going on the original batteries.
