The foreman's rule about never loading PVC in the cold saved me 30 grand

Back in 2015 my old foreman in Boise told me to wait until the truck warmed up before stacking any PVC pipe, I figured he was just being lazy. Last January I skipped it on an emergency order and cracked eight 12-foot sections right down the middle, the client billed us for every one. Anyone else got a 'silly' rule from a boss that turned out to be the reason you still have a job?

Old heads know stuff for a reason. PVC gets brittle below freezing, so his rule was just basic physics. That 30k bill was a tuition payment you'll never repeat.
