Just realized how much less people argue about pricing now that I put a clear list on my website.

About a year ago, I'd get at least three calls a week from folks in the Springfield area wanting to haggle over a basic wasp nest removal. After I added a simple price page with flat rates for common jobs, those calls dropped to maybe one a month. It seems like seeing the numbers up front makes them accept it as a fact, not a starting point. Anyone else find that being super clear about costs from the start cuts down on the back-and-forth?

That price page is basically a fence that keeps the tire-kickers on the other side. People see a flat $150 for a nest removal and either accept it or move on. The cousin-with-a-can-of-beer crowd never had any intention of paying you anyway. Then you're free to talk to the folks who are actually ready to book.

Wait, you were getting three calls a week just to argue about wasp nest prices? That sounds like a total nightmare. What were people even saying to try and talk you down on something like that?

My old boss had a flat $150 fee for removal. People would call and say their cousin did it for a case of beer last year, so why's it so high now. They don't get that the price is for me NOT getting stung and knowing where to spray. I started saying the cost covers the protective suit and the guarantee they're gone. If they still argued, I'd tell them good luck with their cousin and hang up. You just can't waste time with people who don't value the risk.
