That $60 gift wrapping class turned into a total money pit
I paid $60 for a two hour gift wrapping class in Austin, mostly to learn fancy bows for the holidays, but the instructor spent half the time pitching her $200 tool kit. Then I bought the kit, tried the techniques at home, and the ribbon kept slipping, so I went back to my old method anyway. Was that just a bad teacher, or has anyone else dropped cash on a 'skill' class that left you worse off than before?

Honestly I used to think those classes were always worth it just for the practice time, but after hearing your story I'm rethinking that. It sounds less like you learned a skill and more like you funded her side hustle, which is a bummer. Maybe the real trick is just watching YouTube for free and saving the $60 for better ribbon.
