The $80 surge protector that saved my register from a blender
Worked retail at a Bed Bath and Beyond in Cleveland for 3 years. One customer tried to return a blender that was clearly used to make margaritas, and the motor had burned out. I plugged it in to test it and it blew a fuse, killed the whole register bank for 20 minutes. My manager asked why I didn't have a surge protector, so I spent $80 on a commercial one for the service desk. Has anyone else had a customer appliance fry a register or till, or am I the only lucky one?

Margarita blenders should come with a warning label aimed at retail workers, not just the drinkers. Glad your register survived, but $80 seems like a small price to pay for learning to inspect the blades before plugging anything in.
