The phone case guy at the flea market who was right about my screen
I used to think those mall kiosk screen protector dudes were full of it. Last month I dropped my phone on gravel at a festival and the tempered glass spiderwebbed everywhere, but the actual screen was fine. That guy in Denver charged me $15 for a cheap one and told me it'd save me 'a hundred times over'. He wasn't wrong, and now I'm wondering if the $60 case I bought online is actually worse than the $10 generic one I passed on. Anyone else had a random vendor be annoyingly correct about something?

oh man that screen protector guy is a legend, sounds like he knew his stuff because mine totally saved me too when I slid my phone across a parking lot last winter. I always assumed the cheap ones were just a scam until I saw the crack stop right at the edge of the glass and my actual screen was still perfect underneath. now I swear by the $10 ones and just buy a couple at a time from whoever's at the booth, never looked back at the overpriced stuff.
