Warning: That new guy at the register tried to void a $200 return by typing random numbers last Tuesday.

I was behind the counter and he punched in 9999 and the system froze for 20 minutes while we had to call IT to fix it, has your store hired someone that clueless before?

That 9999 trick is a classic system killer, next time tell him to leave the void key alone and call you over for anything over $50. I've had to ban a new hire from touching refunds after they factory-reset the register chasing a $3 coupon.

factory-reset the register chasing a $3 coupon" is wild. I swear some people just start pressing buttons until something happens. I've seen a cashier somehow nuke the entire price lookup database because they hit the wrong key trying to fix a double scan. The void key is a dangerous toy for new hires.

And then they act surprised when you tell them they just cost the store $200 in labor to fix their button mashing. The void key is basically a nuke button and some people treat it like a video game cheat code. I swear half the training videos should just be a red screen that says "stop pressing things you don't understand." $3 coupon turned into a $500 headache real quick.
