Why does nobody warn you about the 2 week change after a restaurant gets a new owner
I do electrical work for a lot of small spots around town, and last month I watched a diner near me swap hands. The old owner had owned it 19 years and I had done small jobs there since 2011. New guy came in, kept the same menu, same staff, same paint on the walls, and for about 10 days it was the same place. Then around day 11 the crew started quitting one by one. By week 2 he was down to 2 cooks and the waitress who had been there the longest, and she finally quit after he yelled at her in front of a full room over a $14 ticket. He called me to fix a dead outlet and spent 20 minutes blaming the old wiring instead of admitting he burned through 6 employees in 14 days. I have seen this same pattern at 3 other spots and it always comes down to how the new owner treats the people who already know the job. Same food, same sign, different guy, totally different place. What is the fastest you have seen a business fall apart after a new owner took over?
