A guy at a Corktown coffee shop told me his whole deal fell apart because he didn't check the basement for asbestos before buying.

My uncle's house had the same exact problem in Hamtramck.

Ever think it could be the ground itself? Like maybe the soil in that whole area shifts a lot with the seasons. That constant moving could mess with pipes and foundations in all the houses built around the same time. I read something about certain neighborhoods having clay soil that swells when wet. That would put pressure on everything underground and cause the same cracks and leaks.

Honestly, what is it with older houses in that area having the same issues? I've heard so many stories about plumbing or foundation problems popping up there after a certain age. It makes you wonder if they all used the same builders or materials back in the day. Tbh it feels like a whole neighborhood thing, not just one unlucky house.
